Where each technique shines, and how to combine them on a single memorial.

Laser etching delivers photographic detail on dark, fine-grained granite, while hand carving creates depth and shadow that reads from a distance.
When to etch
Portraits, landscapes and fine linework belong on Jet Black or Graphite, where the contrast is highest.
When to carve
Family names, emblems and anything that needs to be legible from the path should be deep-carved or shape-carved.
